i watched this movie today for free! Thanks to Jonathan Tye for the free tickets! Free tickets are good! lol.
if you have not watch this movie, i'll highly recommend it and ya, pls dont read on to spoil the excitment if you're gonna watch it! and if you've watched it, i would like to share some of my thoughts on it. i dont usually like to watch this genre of movie, action and the end of the world drama kind, but i really enjoyed this show for the following reasons. i watched it at Lido 1 with an almost full packed audience, so ya imagine the kinda of setting.
1) There are hilarious anti-climax scenes IN THE MIDST OF CHAOS which just cracks u up! :) thumbs up! it was quite obvious there were several in the theatre just now who wanted to clap just because those scenes were just superbly timed and funny!
2) The kids are soooooo CUTE. not those who are playful, naughty or nice. but those with a good sense of humour, wit, and courage! Just the kind you'd wanna give birth to! lol.
3) the 4 spaceships which were built to save were unmistakably noah's ark lookalikes! except that they are not wooden but metal like. The size and shape are all copycats of Noah's ark. In fact the movie mentions Genesis. Isn't it just amazing to know that Man concurs that God has the best design, and Noah the best architect? :)
3) It makes you look at humanness in the face of impending death. There ARE some who face death squarely and courageously. It is painful to watch people die in this movie, but its more unthinkable/unbearable to watch those who watch others die. How much is humanity worth? Are different lives pegged at different values?
4) "if my father was here, he would have opened the doors." this line was said by the US president's daughter in the show. She supported the geologist's plea to the captain to open the doors of the ship to let the people board. They couldn't bear to watch them die. Humanity is at stake here. This is a most dramatic scene. People were falling from the edge one by one.
how could one not do anything? well one could ignore! is ignorance really bliss? For the humans, it is AGONY! as i thought about this, i thought about Father God.
COULD GOD BEAR TO WATCH PEOPLE DIE AND NOT DO ANYTHING?
i'm sure God would open the doors and let the people come in to safety.
God is Lord.
and He is love.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. " - John 3:16
5) People rejoice when their lives are saved, and when they see a life saved. There ARE a few brave souls who would risk their lives to save others. I wonder, if i am on board that ship, which category of people would i belong to? Would i risk my live for others? Will i stumble or stand in the face of death? Would i have unfinished business?
Mr "US president" stayed behind in his White House till his last breath. He called his daughter to say he would tell the people the truth so that they'll have time to say goodbye to their loved ones, to huddle and comfort each other, and for those who need to seek forgiveness.
what would i do when the end comes? what would i be doing?
will i wait till death comes for me till i start to live?
what does it really mean when we say we love each other?
have we held too tightly to unimportant earthly things that we loose hold of the truly important eternal ones?
what are we holding on to, today? Will those things matter when death comes? Do they have eternal value?
6) watching 2012 has led me to reflect so much about humanity, death and my life. It is a sobering wake up call. Yet despite it all, i see HOPE. God is the God of hope. God is love. God saves!
Father God, i pray you awaken our souls from slumber. Wake us up in this hour when we need to be awake. We need to start living. We need to tell the world the truth of your love. Help us never, never, never, never to give up!
