What A Reunion!

Sunday, January 29, 2006

I just had a great CNY evening! how about u guys? I really like and cherish this time of reunion together with my extended family. I am so glad that all of us are able to gather and spend some quality time together. Esp with my cousins from the paternal side... after dinner today, we went to sing at Party World (Shenton Way). And it was all FOC! so cool rite? Cos my uncle actually is on real good terms with one of the bosses. And i actually spoke to the boss of Party World? Amazing man.....and the most surprising thing was I now have a Party World KTV VIP card!!!! now, how cool is that?
okay...i'm really satisfied...what more could i ask for? and i just realised that the Tan family has a few quirks and traits.
Tan's family quirks and traits
  1. Almost all of the male cousins have perfect eyesight. Yup....only the males.
  2. 70% of the cousins like to sing! both boys and girls.
  3. All of us relish the same particular Fuzhou dish that my grandma never fails to prepare during festive seasons, and that is, "Ang Chao Kuay"- meaning Chicken in Red Wine. That, all of us lurveee...
  4. All of the uncles are entrepreneurs. Start, manage and own their own businesses, from scratch.
  5. All of us cousins are close. We may seldom meet but we can strike up a conversation easily. Thank God!
  6. All of us cousins i can safely say, cherish kinship. In fact, our generation can be said to be closer than our fathers' generation!!! And it may be surprising to some that a few of us the older cousins actually will talk about how our family is doing, how we are progressing and stuff... family matters that normally only the elders would talk about.
  7. All of the daughter-in-laws are on good terms and cooperate to help out with the preparation of the dinner. Without them , we probably will starve! if we depend on the men.....yar...

That's about all... that's the Tan family for you.
What's reunion without family? However, if one can't be with his/her family physically, then the next best would be having a reunion in the heart. People can't always be there, but love remains in the heart.

New Year, New Breakthrough

oh...a new yr a new breakthru ya? I just had a breakthru yesterday as i wrote down my prayers. been a long one year. i reckon, from my own experience, a good indicator of the fact that one has really moved on from a r/s, would be to sincerely hope for the best for that person, and give up that desire of habouring any more hope that the person will like u back. It is like tearing up a bounced check that u've kept all this while. The bounced check has no value already but a person who has not moved on will continue to keep it, although knowing that he/she will never ever be able to cash out anything, yet somehow, believes that one day, he/she will be able to cash out that cheque. A person who has moved on finally, will tear up that cheque, totally convinced that, it is indeed, cashless.

ps: oops, i forgot to state what my breakthru was..ha. it was breakthru cos this was the day i finally plucked up the courage to pray for that someone whom i've been keeping close to my heart, even thou i knew that it was a 'bounced cheque'. Aall along i've been reluctant to pray for him cos i just cant bring myself to really accept the 2 of them. My struggle was that i can't bear to crush my own dream. That was the hardest part. But 1 long year has since passed, and i'm glad i've really learnt to let go of this unnecessary burden in my heart. Now, all i want is to wish him all the best. and i'm totally convinced...........

True love aint meant to be selfish.

=)
